American regional casino operator, Penn National Gaming Integrated , has reportedly declared that it would like to pursue a sportsbook for Detroit’s Greektown Casino Hotel should its plan to buy the downtown venue be approved by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
Michigan’s sportsbook:
According to a Wednesday report from The Detroit News newspaper, the Pennsylvania company has agreed a deal that is to see it purchase the 400-room property in partnership with the Vici Properties Incorporated property investment trust (REIT) spun away from Caesars Entertainment Corporation this past year. The $1 billion transaction with current owner Jack Entertainment is expected to be finalized at the end of next year after which the operator supposedly wishes to begin lobbying for the right to start Michigan’s casino-based sportsbetting service.
Operator eager to ‘join the group ’:
Eric Schippers, Public Affairs and Government Relations Senior Vice-President for Wyomissing-headquartered Penn National Gaming incorporated, reportedly told the newspaper that his company is to pay $300 million for the right to run the 30-story Greektown Casino Hotel and would like to complement the Detroit place ’s current casino using a sportsbook.
“We’d love the opportunity to provide sportsbetting there. That is something we’re likely to be researching legislatively. MGM Grand Detroit has been working hard to deliver about sportsbetting at Michigan. We would like to join the team and take action on it. ”
PASPA payoff:
The newspaper reported that the United States Supreme Court’s invalidation at May of their Skilled and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) has up to Now led to the states of New Mexico, Delaware, Mississippi, New Jersey and West Virginia linking Nevada in permitting casinos to Provide sportsbetting.
