In Ontario, Canada, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation subsidiary, Ontario Gambling East Limited Partnership (OGELP), on Thursday, announced that on Monday, October 15, its Shorelines Casino Peterborough is scheduled to open its doors to the public for the first time.
Based on the official media release…
The grand opening celebration, which will commence at 5pm at the new gaming center on Crawford Drive in The Parkway, will incorporate a ribbon-cutting service and live entertainment. The first 2,500 guests will receive a unique present to commemorate the opening.
General Manager for Shorelines Casino Peterborough, Bryan Buchanan stated, “Opening day will be an exciting one for our 300 team members — 180 of which are brand new — that are all very excited to showcase the new centre to the City and the market.
Replacing the Slots Parlour in Kawartha Downs, the 50,000 square foot full size casino features roughly 500 slot machines, 22 live table games, a racebook and an area for live entertainment. Dining consists of two eateries such as an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant, together with the Windward Restaurant and Lounge, which provides a choice of modern casual cuisine.
Buchanan added, “As we prepare to open our doors and offer an unparalleled gaming and entertainment experience to our clients, we would like to understand the efforts of all of the regional companies and trades personnel who worked on this project. Hiring local talent was very significant to us and together we’ve constructed an exceptional facility.
As previously announced, approximately 150 workers were moved from Kawartha Downs to the new Peterborough gaming facility, with the firm stating they were looking to employ the same amount of new staff in the job fair held in May this year.
New hotel to open in spring 2019:
A groundbreaking ceremony for its projected 100-room resort adjacent to Shorelines Casino Peterborough was held on May 3, 2018, in 1400 Crawford Drive at Peterborough. The under-construction Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton, which is anticipated to open in May 2019, will reportedly include a fitness center, and an indoor saltwater pool, laundry facilities, a business centre and 800 square feet of meeting space, with a 500-seat concert theatre to be added at a later date.
In the May groundbreaking service for your hotel, Peterborough Mayor Daryl Bennett stated the new resort would tackle the “shortage of accommodation facilities” at the city.
The decision to find the new casino from the city situated on the Otonabee River at Central Ontario, Canada, rather than the existing Fraserville site, was made by Great Canadian Gaming several years back following the City Council signaled to the gaming firm that it was willing to sponsor a casino.
