In New Jersey, the brand new sportsbook in Meadowlands Racetrack is reportedly proving popular following it took almost $3.5 million in wagers during its first nine days including in excess of $650,000 on Saturday.
Based on a Monday report by the Associated Press news agency cited by local television broadcaster, WNYT-TV, the brand new sportsbetting performance has been run in partnership with American daily fantasy sports firm, FanDuel Integrated , that was recently acquired by Dublin-based bookmaker Paddy Power Betfair, also proceeded live from July 14.
Success despite All-Star Game fracture:
Operated by New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC, Meadowlands Racetrack now offers the nearest legal sportsbook into New York City while the centre ’s initial life came during a period that is traditionally slow to get bookmakers as a result of Major League Baseball’s yearly All-Star Game break.
Jeff Gural, Chairman for New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC, told the news agency which his centre ’s fresh sportsbook had done ‘okay’ in spite of how it only offered ten live-teller windows and was not yet ‘in full strength. ’
“Our goal the initial weekend was supposed to exceed $1million, which we did,” Gural informed the Associated Press before showing that the Bergen County performance is shortly due to be enlarged. “The following four days were silent without a bet on due to the All-Star [Sport ] break. ”
Last month saw New Jersey become just the 2nd American authority to legalize sportsbetting after the May ruling in the United States Supreme Court that invalidated the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992. The eastern state’s Monmouth Park Racetrack and Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa then started offering sports wagers from June 14 prior to being followed two weeks later by the recently-opened Ocean Resort Casino.
The first 16-day period watched the trio of sportsbooks generate some $16.4 million in wagers while the Associated Press reported that this figure is anticipated to be eclipsed by July’s full-month tally, that will be released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement on August 14.
