Ahead of this opening after today of its Morpheus hotel, Asian casino operator Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited has allegedly been granted permission to bring any new-to-market live-dealer gaming tables into the $1.1 billion Macau property.
Based on a Thursday report from GGRAsia, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau has just authorized the Hong Kong-listed firm to transfer some 40 tables out of its other regional properties to Morpheus even though the regulator stated that it intends to revisit the matter next year.
“The [government of Macau] has granted approval to the various gaming concessionaire to transfer 40 gaming tables not including slot machines out of its other casino properties to Morpheus in 2018,” read a statement in the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau. “Following year, the [government of Macau] will examine if it is going to make it possible for the gaming concessionaire to include new gaming tables into Morpheus. ”
GGRAsia reported the decision for the City of Dreams Macau expansion was down into the former Portuguese enclave’s no want to diversify its economy away from gaming and promote the introduction of more family-friendly attractions. But, it also explained that most of the city’s other recently-opened casino resorts including the $3.4 billion MGM Cotai out of MGM China Holdings Limited was granted such additional allocations.
“It must be reiterated that so as to prevent the gaming concessionaires over-emphasizing that the development of gaming and at the exact same time to promote them to increase their investment in non-gaming, the [government of Macau] has continuously implemented distinct steps,” read the regulator’s statement.
Guests will be able to enjoy a variety of restaurants, an art gallery and a ‘skies pool’ located a few 426 feet above the floor.
The source also reported that Morpheus will feature a bespoke gaming club on its second floor along with eight personal casino salons attached to its own villas. Guests will only be allowed to access those places if they’re a member of Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited’s own Li Ying Club loyalty program or have made special arrangements through an outside junket operator.
