Wearable tech is much more popular than previously, and smartwatches, fitness bands or alternative devices which are worn around the body are a massive hit globally. According to recent statistics released, a staggering total of approximately 17 million wearables were offered in the USA. This adds up to being about 1 in every 6 people having a device of some type.
This is excellent news for numerous reasons, not at least since it demonstrates that individuals are more aware of their personal health than previously. So, surely this means that Americans are healthier than they ’ve ever been? Regrettably, the same statistics show that, although more and more people are purchasing health-focused wearable technologies, the same individuals were abandoning the apparatus soon after purchasing it. Why?
The results of the survey were intriguing, to say the least. It turns out at least a third of users gave up with their physical fitness group more than 6 months after getting it. This seems to suggest that users are just losing interest, getting fed up, or are no longer concentrated on their wellbeing. But there is much more to those numbers than meets the eye.
It should be noted that the survey averted products which were deemed necessary, like hearing aids, or heart rate monitors for people who required it. The survey instead focused on discretionary things, a user had purchased for their particular purposes.
The principal reasons that consumers abandoned the apparatus were questions regarding the truth, and a very simple fact of massive inconvenience. More specifically, many simply felt the apparatus not only failed to accurately detect measures when supposedly counting them, but it needed charging far more than was acceptable. Many of those who abandoned their wearable did, however, buy a newer, better version.
Better Options, More Interest
But wearable technology has come a long way as it was originally introduced, about a few years ago. Since the ancient times of smartwatches, much has changed, therefore user interest has exploded. For instance, lots of the products available on the market now grant the option to share results on social media sites, making fitness targets much more inviting to achieve.
Some newer smartwatch designs also go way beyond simply being concentrated on fitness, and can be used to play with at a website like Jackpot City casino online, browse the web, send text messages, and even more. This advancement is one of the reasons they’re seeing more widespread adoption, and user engagement increasing steadily. Additionally, with the technologies still undergoing further advancement, adoption rates are set to rise even greater.
Looking at a Future Evolution
It need not be said that wearable tech is continuing to evolve, entering into ever more interesting and intriguing sections. Experimental tech built into clothes is currently being showcased, further enhancing convenience and comfort for consumers. Trackers constructed into sneakers are already emerging, providing glimpses as to what the future will look like.
Clothing with so-called “smart threads” has also been hinted at, which provides a more sophisticated and concentrated study of practice than previously. It seems plausible that these items will come together in the not too distant future, providing a precise, personal exercise experience never before seen. Whether it makes us healthier though, is still up for debate, and only time will tell if wearables that step success are enough to keep getting us off the couch.
