Galaxy Entertainment Group Limited Exploring Interracial name Usage Case

Asian casino operator, Galaxy Entertainment Group Limited, has reportedly announced that it is investigating a claim that its name is being illegally used to promote a gambling facility located along the shores of Cam Ranh Bay in southern Vietnam.

No Vietnamese activities:

According to a Friday report from the Macau News Agency, the Hong Kong-headquartered firm used an official filing (pdf) to declare that it is not responsible for any resort or hotel in Vietnam nor does it ‘have any association’ with facilities located in the nation of over 94 million inhabitants.

Nha Trang Galaxy allegation:

However, Galaxy reportedly stated that it was recently made aware that advertisements bearing its name in Chinese are allegedly being used to invite patrons to register for the ‘grand opening’ of a gambling facility marketed as the Nha Trang Galaxy. The operator behind Macau’s giant Broadway Casino, Galaxy Macau and StarWorld Macau venues detailed that these supposed marketing materials also feature a logo ‘that is extremely similar to’ its own.

Considering ‘legal action’:

The casino operator moreover explained that photographs of the facility in question ‘appear to be those of’ the five-star Duyen Ha Resort Cam Ranh, which is located approximately 19 miles south of the resort city of Nha Trang, and that its ‘valued customers’ should not be misled into thinking that it has anything to do with the venue.
