Dover Downs Hotel & Casino will allegedly be available on Christmas Day for the first time ever in the small Mid-Atlantic country ’s history.
According to the Delaware State News, for the first time since slot machines were approved at Delaware in 1994, it’s currently legal to bet at Delaware’s trio of casinos such as Dover Downs, Delaware Park Casino at Wilmington and Harrington Raceway & Casino, formerly Midway Slots, on Christmas and on Easter, courtesy of legislation signed by Gov. John Carney on June 30 this year.
Passage of tax relief bill:
Long sought by leaders at Delaware casinos that state they’t struggled without taxation relief, the law decreases the state’s share of revenue from slot machines by about one percentage point, from 42.5 percent or 41.5 percent. Additionally, it cuts the dining table game taxation in half, to approximately 15 percent, suspends the dining table gambling licensing fee and will reduce, casinos’ taxation burden $16.8 million by 2020.
According to the news portal, a provision at the casino relief charge allows for the state’s casinos to be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and to specifically operate video lottery terminals (VLTs). VLTs differ from slot machines because you will find a pre-determined number of winners, and players compete with each other for a decoration instead of against the house. VLTs are most frequently found in Indian gambling casinos or racinos.

But Dover Downs is the only one from those three which will be taking advantage of the shift in the law tomorrow. Both of the sites for another two casinos signify they will be closed on Christmas.
