Prominent online casino operator Betsson AB has announced that players at Sweden will soon be in a position to lawfully enjoy its Betsson.com, SverigeAutomaten.com and NordicBet.com domain names after it became among the first to receive an iGaming license from governments in the Scandinavian nation.
Momentous milestone:
According to an official press release released by European Gaming Media and Events, the operator detailed the reward for the home state is to become effective from the first day of 2019 and remain valid for a whole five years. It further clarified that the authorization would be to take its combined tally of permits up to twelve after the earlier receipt of such approvals from authorities in jurisdictions including Malta, Denmark and the United Kingdom.
One of the first:
Betsson is also responsible for its domain names at OranjeCasino.com, Betsafe.com and Casino.dk and it stated that the license from the Swedish Gambling Authority carries a provision which will see it cover an 18% gross gambling revenue tax. The award follows the June passing of laws that’s been made to deregulate the iGaming market in Sweden with fellow Stockholm-based online casino operator LeoVegas AB also one of those to have been recently accredited.
Second time lucky:
Stockholm-listed Betsson AB earlier revealed that it had applied for a Swedish iGaming license in 2006 while the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Pontus Lindwall (pictured), used a official August press release to emphasise achievement this time around could empower his company to ink local advertising and sponsorship deals and possibly boost the size of its Swedish workforce.
Lindwall’s announcement read…
“It’s great that Sweden has opened the gambling market to free competition in a controlled environment. We look forward to working in our Swedish house market as a recognized operator on equivalent terms.
