Over the weekend, the MS Lucky Lady began offering service to visitors of the Rising Star Casino in Indiana. The ferryboat can carry as many as 150 vehicles or more across the Ohio River to provide transport to those who wish to visit the gaming venue. The first official full day of limited service took place on Sunday, with the Rising Star calling the day a ‘triumphant’ one.
Ready for Service:
The launch of the ferryboat took about a month longer than anticipated. The boat was christened back in July and was set to launch in August. However, there was a delay based on weather as well as paving the road that travels from the ferry launch ramp.
According to Cincinnati.com…
Dan Lee, the CEO of Full House Resorts stated that the new ferryboat should drive traffic to nearby towns of Rabbit Hash and Rising Sun. The boat will provide a more convenient way to travel to the Rising Sun, offering visitors access to gaming, golf, the hotels and more. A new resort experience is currently on offer as the property recently refurbished their main hotel as well as Pavilion.
Naming the Ferryboat:
The naming of the ferryboat was a fun experience, as the public was asked to help provide the new transportation option with a title. The Rising Star Casino announced during the christening that the boat was to be named Lady Luck after winning with just 21 votes, out of close to 1,800.
From now through October 5th, the ferry will offer free transportation. Once the free time frame has come to an end, the fee for one-way transport will be $5 while the round-trip cost will be $8. Customers of the casino will be reimbursed the fee if they have qualifying game play. The Lady Luck can transport 10 vehicles at a time and offers an alternative travelin option between the area of Rabbit Hash in Kentucky, to Rising Sun, Indiana.
