After having received final approval for its own casino program from the Planning Board in Tiverton, Rhode Island final fall, the Twin River Management Group on Monday announced that on August 28, 2018, it is going to shut down the Newport Grand Casino at 11 p.m.
The Twin River Management Group, which also owns and operates the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, RI, bought the Newport Grand Casino so as to relocate the permit to a new location after Newport residents failed to accept table matches at that match.

The gaming permit for the casino hotel, which has been built less than a mile out of the Massachusetts border near Fall River, will soon be transferred to the new Tiverton Casino Hotel, which will open on September 1, 2018, at 10am.
Ahead of the formal grand opening, practice days and training sessions will be held for employees at the new casino.
The home will incorporate an 84-room hotel, food, beverage, and entertainment outlets, fitness center, meeting space and a 38,000 square foot casino with 32 gaming tables and as many as 1,000 electronic gaming machines.

The Tiverton Casino Hotel will include a Trattoria Romano Italian restaurant, Pie Five Pizza, Mooyah Burgers, Dunkin’ Donuts plus a Jacky’s Galaxie franchise.
Concerning the new roundabout which has been promised to the City of Tiverton from the Twin River Management Group, it is nearing completion and will reportedly be prepared prior to the opening of this new casino.
While an October 1 target date to its casino opening was granted before, at the end of May the direction company’s chairman, John E. Taylor Jr., reportedly announced that due to unexpected progress produced by building crews during the winter months, the Tiverton casino would start sooner than anticipated.
The Newport County town of Tiverton believes it will see a minimum of 3 million collected annually in gambling revenue and an additional $1 million in taxes.
The Newport Grand construction started as a jai alai fronton in June 1976, and 16 years later slots machines turned into the venue’s chief attraction. In 2008, the building was renovated as a slots parlor.
