The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) might like to see pilot’s permission given to taxpayers of Vietnam to relish casino games at a gaming center located in Phu Quoc. The MPI has asked the Government to give the right permissions to permit locals to share in wagering on the largest island at the Kien Giang province.
If approved, the pilot program will be in place for 3 years from the date that the casino is supplied licensing to accept gamers of Vietnam. Based on the language inside the Law on Investment, a casino is thought to be a conditional business and must be approved by the prime minister.
The move to permit locals to share in gaming is one that is expected to assist with the evolution of the local market as well as tourism development, particularly in the Phu Quoc area. The decision will also help to refine the legal and institutional framework of the casino industry in the area.
This decree has been seen as an attempt by the authorities to legalize casinos at a step-by-step fashion, granting permission for locals to get involved via a three-year pilot program. Before, only those who had a foreign passport were permitted to gamble over the electronic gaming parlors and casinos of the country.
With Decree No. 03, Vietnamese citizens that are at least 21 decades old with a regular income of VND10 million each month (equal to US$441) will be permitted to access casinos located in the area. An entrance ticket must be purchased, of VND1 million (US$44) every 24 hours. A pass may also be purchased per month in VND25 million (US$1,100). Proceeds from the entrance ticket prices will go towards the provincial budget inside the area in which the casino is situated.
