At Rhode Island, a senior Democratic state legislator has introduced a measure that would assemble on late-November’s launching of land-based sportsbetting by enabling citizens to also place sports wagers by means of a mobile device.
Targeting taxation:
Based on a Wednesday report by the Associated Press news service published by The News Tribune newspaper, the legislation was released by Dominick Ruggerio (pictured) from the Rhode Island State Senate earlier this week in hopes that the small eastern state can generate more earnings from sportsbetting.
Limited chances:
Bets on the move:
If ratified, the legislation from 70-year-old Ruggerio would allegedly allow sportsbetting aficionados to utilize a specially-created mobile program in order to place wagers from anywhere in Rhode Island but they are to have to register for the progress in person so that staff may verify their era.
Geo-location advances:
Ruggerio allegedly told local online news domain GoLocalProv.com that his legislation would also subject cellular sportsbetting to the same 51% tax rate now accessed contrary to its land-based counterparts and hope to prohibit out-of-state wagering through the use of geo-location technology.
Ruggerio to GoLocalProv.com…
“It’s estimated that 97 percent of sportsbetting takes place illegally. This is an opportunity to give Rhode Islanders and visitors a legal avenue to take part in an activity they enjoy while providing an extremely tangible benefit to our nation. ”
