Michigan Representative Brandt Iden was confident in his efforts to push sports betting and online gambling laws in the state. Both democrats and republicans were in favor of their campaign, with bills steadily moving ahead. But, all progress has been postponed as a result of Republican Governor Rick Snyder deciding to veto the bundle of bills. On Friday, Snyder chose to halt the statements, with just two weeks left in his term.
Disappointment:
Representative Iden was both surprised and disappointed at the outcome. Despite the veto, the agent plans on continuing to work for sports betting in the state, set to present a new bill at the end of next month. The upcoming legislative session at the state begins on the 9th of January.

In a telephone call, Iden said: “I am surprised and disappointed. With this many stakeholders on board, it took us to get to the point, and it’s the first time at almost any state history we had all parties which were supportive of the bill (on the same page). ”
Moving Forward:
As Rep. Iden moves forward with his efforts to see gambling expand in Michigan, he may have a challenging time. It took a year for Iden to gain support from both parties, together with operators, lawmakers and tribal interests all in approval of what was proposed in the online gaming bundle of bills. The bundle included sports betting, an activity that would just have further boosted revenues earned from expanded gaming.
Rep. Iden will have to reintroduce the bills and stunt meetings will have to take place yet again, with both the Senate and House voting on the measures before the bill is going to be put prior to the incoming governor’s desk, Democrat Gretchen Whitmer.
Governor Whitmer has shown support for sports betting so Iden is hopeful that she’ll sign legislation that’s equipped to move ahead year, including online gambling and sports betting.
