James Sottile named Executive VP and Chief Legal Officer Scientific Games

Leading provider of games, programs and solutions including casino, lottery and social gambling, Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS), announced Tuesday that effective September 4, James Sottile (pictured) joined the firm as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Legal Officer.

Sottile will be responsible for overseeing the Las Vegas-based company’s international legal organization. He’ll report to Barry Cottle, President and Chief Executive Officer for Scientific Games.

Accomplished legal strategist:

Commenting on the appointment, Cottle stated, “Jim brings more than 30 years of experience working across multiple industries. He’s an accomplished legal strategist and litigator, as well as a seasoned leader. I look forward to working together with himas he guides our world-class legal company to support our strategic objectives and positively affect our business outcomes. He’s a fantastic addition to our executive team. David Smail will be staying on in an advisory role through the end of the year.

Before joining the firm, Sottile was a partner at international law firm, Jones Day, at its New York office. He has considerable expertise developing legal strategies to cure critical business problems, negotiating positive answers with regulators and successfully litigating complex commercial matters.
