The 2018 World Series of Poker continues at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, offering players a prime opportunity to take part in premium poker gaming. One of the most recent tournaments to finish up is Event #56, the $10,000 Razz Championship. This event saw 119 players competing, creating a total prize pool of $1,118,600. Calvin Anderson wound up outlasting the field and taking on Frank Kassela in heads-up play to earn the first-place win and his 2nd WSOP gold bracelet.
Once the tournament dwindled down to the final two, Anderson and Kassela went head-to-head, battling back and forth, as both held the lead several times. The two took the tournament into day 4 before the winner was determined.
Going into the final day, Anderson held a 3 to 1 chip lead, which would help him earn the win. The limits were so big that it took only five hands before the tournament would came to an end. On the second to final hand, Anderson’s nine-seven beat the nine-eight of Kassela to cut the competitors chip stack down considerably and the next hand sealed the win for Anderson.
Commenting to the WSOP after the final hand, Kassela laughed as he said: “Well, we could have finished this last night.”
The Event #56 win for Anderson marks the second time the pro has earned a WSOP gold bracelet win. The first win for the pro took place in 2014, when he competed in a Stud Hi-Lo event.
