In response to a widely reported article from the Sunday Times of Malta, Bet365 has explained its own ‘Gibraltar after BREXIT’ standing (see previous reports) saying the company will enlarge in Malta but keep its main operational heart in Gibraltar.
According to a report by the Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation, an anonymous bet365 spokesperson explained that the company’s investment in Malta was “due to regulatory improvements in various jurisdictions and the evolving global regulatory environment for online betting and gaming”.
Gibraltar’s Minister for Gambling, Albert Isola, also responded in a press announcement, saying:
“Bet365 have confirmed directly to us they remain totally dedicated to Gibraltar and the entirety of it’s workforce here. They are not leaving Gibraltar by any stretch of the imagination.
“Neither are they needing to choose between us and Malta. What remains true is that Gibraltar stays the authority of choice for the most reputable gaming companies in the world. Brexit is not likely to change this. ”
