On Friday, the West Virginia State Senate voted in favor of the West Virginia Lottery Interactive Wagering Act. A vote of 26 to 7 will see the step moving forward, permitting the gaming operators with land-based places to offer online gaming. IGaming continues to advance in the state as the legislation received the current acceptance.
Online Gambling:
The WV Lottery Interactive Wagering Act would enable the five licensed gaming operators of land-based venues to include online poker and casino games for their offerings. HB 2934 was recently accepted in the House of Representatives in West Virginia but alterations were made on Friday to the bill, so the House will finally have to re-approve the step.
When the House approves of those modifications and Governor, Jim Justice, signals the bill, subsequently West Virginia will be the most recent state from the US to legalize online gaming. Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware were the first to do so back in 2013 with Pennsylvania approving the choice in overdue 2017, having yet to launch solutions, even though they are expected to arrive later on this year.
While the online gaming legislation is moving forward, another bill has died in the Senate. House Bill 2901 was made to allow two casinos in the state with the right to make a satellite centre which would comprise video lottery terminals in addition to gaming tables.
The bill was voted within the West Virginia State Senate Finance Committee last week with a negative vote of 8-7. The two venues are controlled by Delaware North.
In a surprising turn of events, last week, both Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras ceased the operation of their online and land-based sports betting services. Both offered land-based sportsbooks along with cellular and online sports betting choices. The BetLucky brand was the online offering.
The shutdown was because of a contract dispute between a third-party technology provider. Miomni Gambling is your platform supplier who’s currently undergoing the dispute. Delaware North has apologized for its shutdown and will not be taking new wagers. The company will honor and redeem all led wagers and seeking to have a time as to when operations will be revived.
