Wheeling Island Casino Goals fall launch of sports betting, football season on property’s radar
Legal sports betting is practically prepared to arrive at Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack in Wheeling, West Virginia, even though an official date for the launch of the house ’s sportsbook is not yet been announced.
The gambling venue’s parent company, Delaware North, announced earlier this week an important step toward the eventual commencement of sport betting operations. The gaming and hospitality company revealed it has joined forces using Nevada-based mobile gaming technology supplier Miomni Gaming to collectively manage a turnkey omni-channel solution at the Wheeling Island Casino’s sportsbook as well as Delaware North’s additional West Virginia real estate, Mardi Gras Casino & Resort in Cross Lanes.
Both hotel and casino resorts have been expected to go reside with Cuban wagering services by the end of September, but their parent company informed the West Virginia Lottery Commission late last month that the launch could be delayed due to unspecified reasons.
In remarks to local news outlets, Wheeling Island Casino President and General Manager Kim Florence explained this week that they are targeting a fall launching of the sports betting facility and that the continuing soccer season is on their radar.
In their partnership with Miomni, Ms. Florence explained that they have finished a very beneficial measure and that they rely heavily on the gaming and betting service provider for “a lot of recommendations in terms of how to put up [their] sportsbook”.
The Wheeling Island Casino President further pointed out that they actually want to be certain that their sportsbook is 100% prepared and that they are offering the best experience possible for their clients.
Lottery Commission Rejects Integrity Fee Proposal
Earlier this, week that the regulatory body examined and voted 18 suggested changes to the present rules under which sport betting services are supplied. Most unexpectedly, commissioners rejected a proposal spearheaded by professional sports leagues for the latter to get some of what the nation generates from sports betting in the form of the so-called ethics fee.
Sports leagues have been pushing for the implementation of a ethics fee in most nations where sports betting has been hailed since the mid-May SCOTUS ruling that struck down a long-standing prohibit on wagering on amateur and professional sporting events. However, none of those states have proceeded to introduce such charge .
West Virginia legalized sports betting in March and went live using legal sports betting in late April. At the moment, two of the state’s gambling venues are providing wagering services at physical sportsbooks. Mobile betting is expected to be launched later this fall. During its Wednesday meeting, the Lottery Commission approved rule changes which would allow West Virginia bettors to check their mobile betting accounts while in other nations. However, they will only have the ability to place bets while on the territory of West Virginia.
