Spelinspektionen, the Swedish gambling regulator, has announced its Spelpaus.se self-exclusion agency has now hit over 20,000 registrations.
The programme empowers users to prevent themselves from accessing services linked to internet gaming and select out of any marketing campaigns that promote such activities.
Spelpaus.se also covers in-person betting at approved stores, bingo facilities, on gaming machines and at all land-based Casino Cosmopol land-based casinos.
The service only applies to those operators that were given a licence from Spelinspektionen. So, far, the Swedish gambling regulator has given licences into 69companies. Among Spelinspektionen’s conditions to provide such a license is to allow the operators to ensure they are integrated with the self-exclusion service.
The gaming regulator, however, has been made to issue a number of reminders for its licencees about this requirement after finding a few failures during the initial month of complete regulation in January this year.
